Artistic director SIMON FRYER has invited his favourite cellists to play music for from one to eight cellos, including Villa-Lobos of course, with the versatile and talented Sarah Slean. Kelly-Marie Murphy’s WMCT commission, an eight-cello work will première this afternoon. Imagine the beauty of a solo cello performance, then multiply that by eight – what could be better?
Concerts take place Thursday afternoons at 1.30 pm in Walter Hall, 80 Queen’s Park (Museum Subway).

Music in the Afternoon is a five-concert series of classical chamber music featuring a dynamic combination of Canadian musicians and international artists, established performers and those on their way to stardom. Well into its second century, the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto presents concerts of exceptional quality, encompassing a wide range of voices and instruments, in repertoire from the Baroque and Classical periods to the 21st century.
