2018 Crime Prevention Conference
Posted 3 years ago by Toronto Charities / 135 views
Established in 2010, the Crime Prevention Conference is an annual event presented by Safe City Mississauga. The conference gathers police, government officials, educators, social workers, crime prevention practitioners, and community organizations to discuss best practices for crime prevention, and to determine how to implement these practices to make our communities safer. Crime prevention is most effective with a strong strategy driving it — and collaborating between agencies and groups is the best way to develop these strategies.
Breakfast (continental), lunch and refreshments will be included.
Superintendent Lise Crouch, Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, Royal Canadian Mountain Police
Countering Violent Extremism Initiative (CVEI) – Det. Feras Ismail, Equity & Inclusion Bureau, Peel Regional Police
Attendees have the option of choosing two of the following breakout sessions to attend:
1) Reintegration Needs of Individuals in Conflict with the Law – Amber Kellen, Director of Community Initiatives, Policy and Research, The John Howard Society of Toronto
1) Youth Violence Prevention: A Social Development Approach – Ron Cunningham, Executive Director, Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development (CACD)
2) Gangs – Peel Regional Police Gang Unit
Attendees of the Crime Prevention Conference come from a number of different backgrounds and professions including police officers, crime prevention practitioners, academics, government officials, social workers, and community organizations and residents.
All proceeds from the 2018 Crime Prevention Conference fund Safe City Mississauga’s programs and services.
