At the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives we believe in the importance of acting as an educational resource to the community. Our main avenues for providing educational support is through tours of our the Jared Sessions House that the CLGA provides our public programs in, moving tours of Toronto’s LGBTQ2+ historical neighbourhoods, and presentations about our collections.

House Tours
A group of university students looks at duplicate buttons during a tour of the Jared Sessions House. September 2015We provide tours to groups and organizations of the Jared Sessions House at 34 Isabella Street, Toronto ON home of the Archives. Within the tour participants will learn some of the history of the home, the history of the CLGA, and will get to see CLGA collections. With enough notice we will display materials for interest of the group. We have given tours to everyone from youth groups, teachers, university classes, religious groups, high school students, social groups, employee resource associations, tourists, and more.

Moving Tours
Executive Director Rebecka Sheffield leads a moving tour of the Church Wellesley Village June 2015We provide moving tours to groups and organizations of historic areas of Toronto’s LGBTQ2+ communities. Currently we provide two moving tours: the Church-Wellesley Village which discusses the history of the Village focusing primarily on the 1970s to today; and downtown Yonge-Queen-King focusing on the earlier history from the 1910s to 1960s. We offer these tours for groups as well as for individuals in partnership with Heritage Toronto. Moving tours are bookable from May to October.
