Join us for this seminar & workshop lead by Engineer and Educator, Steven Law.

If you’re interested in sustainability, renewable energy, or looking to save money on your energy bill, then this event is for you.

The workshop will provide participants with an overview of energy storage technologies for both electric power and thermal energy. Energy storage technologies include pumped hydro, batteries, hydrogen, flywheels, compressed air and thermal tanks / district energy loops.

Real world case studies will be used to describe how the technologies are deployed in a practical way. Applications will include time shifting and intermittent renewable energy technologies. Interactive exercises will provide for enhanced learning opportunities.

Guest Speaker: Steven Law
, Professional Engineer / Educator

Steven Law is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph.

Steven has over 20 years of engineering experience in both the private and public sectors, including renewable energy projects for wind and solar farms, anaerobic digester biogas co-generation, biomass heating and co-generation, renewable fuel standards, research studies, field testing, greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies and updating regulatory instruments such as standards, regulations and guidelines.

Steven has presented numerous papers at conferences regarding renewable energy standards, regulations and guidelines, biomass combustion, biogas utilization, greenhouse gas emission impacts and management policy.

Steven is a contributing member of several national level committees pertaining to updating standards and guidelines for renewable energy technologies, including the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment, the Standards Council of Canada and CSA technical committees and sub-committees.
