Project X: Brushstrokes

Posted 3 years ago by Toronto Charities / 53 views

Calling all artists and painting enthusiasts! Try your hand at painting your own masterpiece this September 15 in support of SickKids!

Project X: Brushstrokes is a full-day event where parents and children spend quality time with one another, painting their own masterpieces that they can take home and cherish. This event will consist of two parts: young families with children can participate in the morning, followed by a 19+ event in the evening. All proceeds from purchasing a canvas will go towards a seed fund for ALD research at the SickKids Research Institute.

Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) families know that spending time with their children is valuable. At this event, families fight for families and show their support for children affected by ALD.

Our Cause

Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a genetic neurological disease and, in its severest form, takes the lives of affected young children before the age of 10. It is characterized by degradation of the brain, resulting in significant losses to motor function. There is no cure for ALD, but there is promise. Preventative therapies, perinatal screening tests, new advances in understanding the disease – these are all on the cusp of development and we want to help push them forward in any way we can.

I can’t make it to the event. How else can I support the cause?

Great question! Thank you for your support. We have two options!

1) You can Sponsor a SickKids Family to take your place at the event.
