TIFF Kids International Film Festival
In 2017, the TIFF Kids International Film Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary as one of the world’s most important cinematic events for film lovers aged 3 to 13. TIFF Kids has helped inspire and empower tens of thousands of children through the discovery of filmmaking and animation. Our youngest audiences took over TIFF Bell Lightbox for our largest programme to date, a diverse selection featuring over 160 films from over 40 countries. We had plenty of off-screen fun and special events planned to encourage children to express their creativity.
TIFF Kids’ 20th year coincides with Canada’s 150th, so please come celebrate this country’s sesquicentennial with us year-round as we showcase some of the finest short films from Canada’s rich history, along with special screenings of the beloved classics Anne of Green Gables and The Dog Who Stopped the War — all for free!
TIFF Kids engages young audiences in the art of storytelling, critical thinking, and media literacy through Q&As with filmmakers and special guests, our Jump Cuts Young Filmmaker Showcase (which goes national in 2017), and participation in the event itself as festival jurors.
The award-winning digiPlaySpace exhibition returns for nine weeks, and this year’s theme of “Creative Machines” invites children to experience the latest creative technologies by diving into a magical environment where physical and digital media converge.
We are excited to celebrate this year’s festival with you and look forward to sharing many more.
See you at the movies!
