ALLIANCE FOR SOUTH ASIAN AIDS PREVENTION
The Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention uses arts and culture as vehicles for health education and community dialogue around HIV and sexual health in South Asian communities across Toronto and the GTA. The organization produces theatre performances, films, visual art installations, and community events that address stigma, increase awareness, and foster open conversations about prevention and treatment. By partnering with artists and cultural leaders from South Asian backgrounds, the Alliance creates work that resonates with community values while tackling misconceptions about HIV. The organization recognizes that artistic expression can reach people in ways that clinical messaging cannot, making it possible to discuss sensitive health topics within cultural contexts that feel authentic and respectful. Through its events and exhibitions, the Alliance builds spaces where South Asian community members can access accurate information, hear from peers, and engage with HIV prevention in culturally grounded ways.
