BETH TIKVAH SYNAGOGUE
Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Toronto operates an animal welfare program rooted in the Jewish principle of tza'ar baalei chayim, which prohibits causing unnecessary suffering to animals. The synagogue provides financial support and resources to local animal rescue organizations, facilitates spay and neuter clinics in underserved neighborhoods, and offers educational workshops on proper pet care and animal rights within the Jewish tradition. Volunteers also coordinate emergency animal relief during natural disasters and work with shelters across the GTA to place abandoned and injured animals in safe homes. The program reflects the congregation's commitment to extending compassion beyond the human community, teaching members that animal welfare is an integral part of Jewish ethical responsibility.
