THE JOAN THEATRE COMPANY

The Joan Theatre Company produces and presents theatrical work created by and for women, non-binary, and gender-diverse artists across Toronto. The organization stages original productions, adapts existing plays, and develops new work that centers underrepresented voices in Canadian theatre. Their programming includes full-length plays, experimental pieces, and community engagement initiatives that provide performance opportunities and artistic development for emerging and established artists. By creating space for stories that might otherwise go untold on stage, the company works to shift whose narratives appear in Toronto's theatre landscape and who gets to tell them. The Joan Theatre Company operates both performance seasons and artist development programs that support writers, directors, performers, and designers working in theatre.
