JOHN HOWARD SOCIETY OF ONTARIO

The John Howard Society of Ontario helps people involved with the criminal justice system reintegrate into their communities through employment support, housing assistance, and life skills training. Operating across Toronto and the broader GTA, the organization works with individuals during incarceration, upon release, and in the years after to reduce recidivism and support successful reentry. The society addresses barriers to employment by offering job readiness programs, skills development, and connections to employers willing to hire people with criminal records. Beyond employment, the organization provides counseling, mentorship, and advocacy services to help participants rebuild relationships, access education, and address substance use issues. By focusing on practical support rather than punishment, the John Howard Society recognizes that stable housing and meaningful work are essential to breaking cycles of crime and creating stronger neighborhoods.
