METROPOLITAN ACTION COMMITTEE ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Metropolitan Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children provides crisis intervention, counseling, and advocacy services to women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse in Toronto. The organization operates 24-hour support lines, runs safe housing programs, and offers trauma-informed counseling to help survivors rebuild their lives. Through community education and training for professionals, the committee works to prevent violence and change attitudes that enable abuse. They also connect clients with legal resources and support services to help them navigate the justice system and access housing, employment, and financial assistance. By combining direct support with systemic advocacy, the organization addresses both immediate safety needs and the underlying factors that perpetuate violence in families across the GTA.
