New Leaf Yoga Foundation
New Leaf Yoga Foundation teaches yoga and mindfulness practices to underserved communities across Toronto, offering free or low-cost classes to people experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, recovering from addiction, and facing mental health challenges. The organization recognizes that yoga can reduce stress, improve physical health, and support emotional wellbeing for populations with limited access to wellness resources. Classes are held at partner locations including shelters, community centers, and drop-in programs throughout the GTA. Instructors are trained to work with trauma-informed approaches, creating safe spaces where participants can build body awareness and coping skills at their own pace. New Leaf also trains community members to become yoga teachers, creating local employment and leadership opportunities while expanding access to programming in the neighborhoods that need it most.
