OBSIDIAN THEATRE COMPANY INC.

Obsidian Theatre Company produces and stages theatrical performances that centre Black stories, voices, and artists. The company develops new Canadian plays, adapts classic works through a Black lens, and creates opportunities for Black performers, directors, designers, and playwrights to lead artistic projects. Operating in Toronto, Obsidian Theatre presents productions that address the full spectrum of Black experience, from comedy to drama to experimental forms. The organization also runs community engagement programs and professional development initiatives that support emerging Black theatre artists. Through its work on stage and behind the scenes, Obsidian Theatre expands whose stories get told in Canadian theatre and who gets to tell them.
