THE PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN FOLKLORE SOCIETY OF ONTARIO

The Pennsylvania German Folklore Society of Ontario preserves and shares the cultural heritage of Pennsylvania Dutch communities through educational programs, cultural events, and archival work. Based in Markham, the organization maintains collections of traditional crafts, recipes, music, and oral histories connected to Anabaptist and Mennonite traditions. The society hosts workshops on folk arts such as quilting and woodworking, organizes community gatherings, and works with schools and museums to ensure these traditions remain visible and accessible to younger generations. By documenting stories, artifacts, and practices, the group keeps Pennsylvania German language and customs alive in the Greater Toronto Area while fostering understanding of this distinct cultural heritage.
