R.A.R.E. Theatre Company

R.A.R.E. Theatre Company produces theatre by and for people with intellectual disabilities in Toronto. The company creates performance opportunities that allow artists with developmental differences to work alongside professional theatre practitioners, developing skills in acting, movement, design, and production. Productions range from original works to adaptations of classic plays, performed in professional venues across the city. R.A.R.E. also runs workshops and training programs that build confidence and artistic ability while fostering community connections. By centering disabled artists as creators rather than audiences, the organization challenges conventional theatre practices and demonstrates the artistic capacity of people often excluded from cultural spaces.
