SICKLE CELL AWARENESS GROUP OF ONTARIO INC.
The Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario provides education and cultural programming around sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder that predominantly affects people of African and Caribbean descent. Based in North York, the organization uses arts and cultural events to raise public understanding of the condition, reduce stigma, and build community among those living with sickle cell disease and their families. The group organizes workshops, exhibitions, and performances that highlight the lived experiences of patients while connecting people across the Greater Toronto Area. Through creative engagement and storytelling, the organization works to shift perceptions about sickle cell disease and ensure that affected communities have access to culturally relevant information and support networks.
