Sierra Leone Sickle Cell Disease Foundation
The Sierra Leone Sickle Cell Disease Foundation provides medical support, educational resources, and financial assistance to individuals living with sickle cell disease in Sierra Leone and the diaspora community in Toronto and the GTA. The foundation works to improve access to treatment, reduce complications from the genetic blood disorder, and increase awareness about sickle cell disease in West African communities. Through partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations, the foundation funds clinical care, pain management programs, and counseling services for patients and families. The organization also supports research initiatives aimed at better understanding the disease and improving outcomes for those affected. By addressing both the immediate medical needs and the social challenges faced by people with sickle cell disease, the foundation helps reduce suffering and enhance quality of life for a population that has historically faced barriers to adequate healthcare.
