THE TOWN OF YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Town of York Historical Society preserves and shares the history of York, the former municipality that was amalgamated into Toronto in 1998. Through archival research, public exhibitions, and educational programs, the organization documents the stories, artifacts, and heritage of this distinct neighbourhood in northwest Toronto. The society maintains collections of photographs, documents, and objects that chronicle York's development from its origins as a township through its industrial and residential growth. Members and volunteers work to ensure that residents and researchers can access this material and learn about the area's unique past. The organization also hosts community events and talks that bring local history to life for Toronto residents interested in understanding the roots of their neighbourhoods.
