Why Not Theatre

Why Not Theatre creates new theatrical work with and for young people across Toronto. The company develops original plays, musicals, and performance pieces that give youth aged 13-25 a platform to tell their own stories and explore contemporary issues through drama. Their productions involve young people in all aspects of creation, from writing and performing to design and technical production. Why Not Theatre runs workshops, mentorship programs, and full-scale productions that build confidence, artistic skills, and community among participants. The organization believes that theatre is a tool for young people to process their experiences, connect with peers, and develop their creative voices during formative years.
