WIGWAMEN INCORPORATED
Wigwamen Incorporated provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and support services for Indigenous people experiencing homelessness across Toronto and the GTA. The organization operates shelters and residential programs designed specifically to meet the cultural, spiritual, and practical needs of Indigenous clients, including access to counseling, life skills training, and connections to employment and education opportunities. Wigwamen recognizes the unique barriers facing Indigenous communities, including systemic discrimination and historical trauma, and creates spaces where clients can access services in culturally appropriate environments. Staff and volunteers work to help individuals transition from homelessness to stable housing while addressing underlying issues such as mental health, substance use, and social isolation. The organization also advocates for policy changes that address Indigenous homelessness at the systemic level.
