CANADIAN ASSOCIATION FOR HUMANE TRAPPING
The Canadian Association for Humane Trapping works to address housing precarity by advocating for and implementing humane approaches to animal control that reduce conflict between wildlife and residential communities across Toronto and the GTA. The organization provides education, training, and resources to homeowners, property managers, and municipalities about preventing wildlife entry into buildings and managing human-animal conflicts without harm. By promoting exclusion techniques, habitat modification, and relocation rather than lethal control, the charity helps protect both animals and housing stock while reducing the costs and complications that arise when wildlife damage or occupancy creates housing instability. The association also trains professionals in humane trapping methods and works with local authorities to shape policy around wildlife management. Their work recognizes that adequate, safe housing depends partly on maintaining buildings free from damage and disturbance, making animal welfare and housing security interconnected goals in urban and suburban environments.
