CANADIAN FRIENDS SERVICE COMMITTEE
The Canadian Friends Service Committee works across Toronto and beyond to address poverty, inequality, and social injustice through direct aid and advocacy. Operating from Quaker principles of compassion and equality, the organization provides emergency financial assistance to people facing hardship, runs programs supporting vulnerable populations including refugees and low-income families, and campaigns for systemic change in policies affecting marginalized communities. The Committee operates a thrift store whose proceeds support its charitable work, while volunteers and staff engage in community organizing and education initiatives. By combining immediate practical help with longer-term efforts to shift institutional barriers, the organization seeks to build a more equitable society where everyone has access to basic resources and dignity.
