CONSERVATION COUNCIL OF ONTARIO

The Conservation Council of Ontario works to reduce food waste and improve food security by connecting surplus food from retailers, restaurants, and farms with people experiencing hunger across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. The organization operates food recovery programs that collect nutritious items that would otherwise go to landfill and distributes them through a network of community partners, shelters, and food banks. By addressing both environmental waste and food insecurity simultaneously, the council tackles two interconnected social problems while supporting local food systems and reducing the carbon footprint of unnecessary disposal.
