MOMIJI HEALTH CARE SOCIETY

Momiji Health Care Society provides long-term residential care, complex care, and community support services for older Japanese-Canadian and Japanese seniors in Scarborough and across the Greater Toronto Area. The organization operates nursing homes and offers home care, counselling, and programs designed to address the unique cultural and linguistic needs of Japanese-speaking elders. Momiji recognizes that language barriers and cultural differences can isolate seniors from essential health services, so staff members speak Japanese and incorporate cultural practices into daily care. Beyond residential facilities, the society delivers community programs including day programs, recreational activities, and support for family caregivers. Momiji also operates a palliative care program for seniors at end of life. The organization's approach centers on maintaining dignity and quality of life while respecting the cultural values important to the Japanese community.
