Planet for Environmental Peace

Planet for Environmental Peace works to address food insecurity by connecting environmental sustainability with food access across York and the Greater Toronto Area. The organization builds community gardens and urban farms in underserved neighbourhoods, producing fresh vegetables while teaching residents about organic growing practices and nutrition. They distribute surplus produce to local food banks and operate programs that employ people facing barriers to work, offering job training in agriculture and food production. By linking environmental restoration with hunger relief, the organization creates both immediate food security and long-term economic opportunities for vulnerable populations.
