PRISONERS WITH HIV/AIDS SUPPORT ACTION NETWORK

Prisoners with HIV/AIDS Support Action Network provides medical care, counselling, and advocacy for incarcerated people living with HIV and AIDS across Toronto and Ontario institutions. The organization works inside correctional facilities to address the health disparities and stigma faced by this vulnerable population, connecting individuals with treatment access, peer support, and legal assistance. Staff and volunteers deliver direct services including health education, mental health support, and help navigating the prison healthcare system. The network also advocates for policy changes to improve conditions and treatment options for incarcerated people with HIV/AIDS, recognizing that those behind bars often face barriers to the same care available in the community. By working within the correctional system, the organization reduces isolation and improves health outcomes for a population frequently overlooked in public health conversations.
