SECOND CHANCE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary provides shelter and rehabilitation for injured, orphaned, and displaced animals in Pickering, with a focus on native Ontario wildlife. The sanctuary operates a large facility where veterinary staff and trained volunteers nurse animals back to health before releasing them into the wild. The organization cares for diverse species ranging from birds of prey to deer and smaller mammals, treating everything from vehicle strikes and predator attacks to illness and habitat loss. Beyond direct animal care, Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary educates the public about coexistence with local wildlife and works to reduce human-animal conflict across the Greater Toronto Area. The facility operates on limited resources while managing the constant intake of animals during peak seasons.
