WOMEN'S CENTRE OF YORK REGION

The Women's Centre of York Region provides crisis support and long-term services to women and their children experiencing abuse, violence, and economic hardship across the GTA. The centre operates a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, counselling programs, and practical support including legal advocacy and employment training. Staff and volunteers work with women at all stages of leaving abusive situations, offering safety planning, therapy, and connection to housing and financial resources. Based in Newmarket, the organization serves hundreds of women annually from diverse backgrounds, recognizing that abuse takes many forms and that recovery requires both immediate safety and sustained support.
