CANADIANS FOR CHILDREN AT HEALTH RISK

Canadians for Children at Health Risk operates school-based programs across the Greater Toronto Area that help students overcome learning barriers caused by health issues, trauma, or social disadvantage. The organization provides one-on-one tutoring, mentorship, and counselling services directly in schools, working with students from kindergarten through secondary levels who face academic struggles due to circumstances beyond their control. By placing trained staff and volunteers in classrooms and hallways, the charity removes obstacles that prevent children from accessing quality education. Staff members collaborate with teachers and families to create individualized plans that address both immediate academic gaps and underlying health or personal challenges. The organization serves over 1,500 students annually, many of whom live in low-income neighbourhoods or come from marginalized communities.
