THE DURHAM REGION ASTRONOMICAL ASSOCIATION

The Durham Region Astronomical Association operates from Oshawa to bring astronomy education to the public through observation nights, lectures, and school programs. Members share telescopes and expertise with people of all ages interested in exploring the night sky, from casual stargazers to serious amateur astronomers. The organization maintains equipment at accessible locations and conducts regular viewing sessions where participants can observe planets, stars, and deep-sky objects while learning about celestial mechanics and space science. They also deliver educational presentations to schools across the GTA and host workshops covering topics like telescope selection and astrophotography. By making astronomy accessible and hands-on, the association fosters scientific curiosity and provides practical experiences that textbooks alone cannot offer.
