DURHAM WARM WATER AQUATIC PROGRAM (DWWAP)
The Durham Warm Water Aquatic Program operates a heated pool facility in Whitby that provides swimming instruction and aquatic therapy to children and adults with physical disabilities, developmental delays, and medical conditions. The program uses warm water to reduce pain and improve mobility, making it accessible for people who cannot participate in standard swimming lessons. Instructors work one-on-one and in small groups to teach water safety, build confidence, and develop swimming skills while therapists use the pool environment to support rehabilitation and physical development. DWWAP serves families across Durham Region and the GTA, offering sessions throughout the year at an affordable cost to remove financial barriers for households with limited resources.
