THE KENSINGTON EYE INSTITUTE

The Kensington Eye Institute provides eye care education and vision screening services to underserved communities across Toronto. The organization delivers programs that increase awareness about preventative eye health, particularly targeting low-income families and recent immigrants who face barriers to accessing optical services. Through workshops, community clinics, and school-based initiatives, the institute educates residents about the importance of regular eye exams while connecting them with affordable treatment options. The organization also trains community health workers to recognize vision problems early, reducing the number of preventable cases of blindness in the GTA. By making eye health information and basic screening accessible outside traditional healthcare settings, the institute addresses a significant gap in health equity for some of Toronto's most vulnerable populations.
