ONTARIO BLACK HISTORY SOCIETY

The Ontario Black History Society preserves and shares the history and contributions of Black communities across Ontario through research, exhibitions, and educational programming. The organization maintains archives and collections that document significant events, individuals, and cultural achievements often overlooked in mainstream historical narratives. It works with schools, museums, and community groups throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area to develop curriculum resources, host public events, and create exhibitions that make Black history accessible to diverse audiences. The society also provides grants and support to independent researchers and community historians working to document local stories and experiences. By connecting people with primary sources and expert knowledge, the organization helps shape how Black history is taught and remembered in Ontario.
