ONTARIO STUDENT DEBATING UNION

The Ontario Student Debating Union operates competitive debate programs for high school and university students across Ontario. The organization runs provincial tournaments, coaching clinics, and training workshops that teach argumentation, public speaking, and critical thinking through structured debate formats. By providing accessible entry points to the activity, OSDU helps students from across Toronto and the GTA develop communication skills and gain confidence in articulating complex ideas. The union also works to expand debate participation among underrepresented groups and maintains standards for fair competition through trained judges and established rules. Students compete in various debate styles throughout the academic year, culminating in provincial championships where teams from schools across the province test their abilities against peers.
