The Rumie Initiative
The Rumie Initiative provides free educational tablets and offline digital content to underserved students across the Global South and in marginalized communities in Toronto and the GTA. The organization distributes refurbished tablets preloaded with lessons covering math, science, language arts, and vocational skills, allowing students to learn without internet access. Rumie works with local schools, community centers, and non-profits to identify students who lack basic educational resources and digital access. By combining hardware donations with curated educational software, the initiative removes barriers that prevent disadvantaged youth from acquiring foundational skills. The tablets remain with students as personal learning tools, supporting both classroom instruction and independent study outside school hours.
